Before I give a run down and a happy announcement at the end I would just like to say:
Every pain crisis is worst than the last and I genuinely want to die when I catch a pain crisis. It just gets worse and fucking worse. Pure hell, pure agony. DO NOT do this to your child, don’t be a selfish pig. No child should face this disease. Plan your baby if you have or even think connections with this cruel disease. I mean yeah there’s two cursing methods but the first one has to be an identical match between you and your dad or you and you full blooded sibling (neither of them wanna do it. I don’t blame my sister as it is risky but that’s some coward shit on my dads end when he’s literally the reason I have this) and the other cure is $2.2-MILLION-FUCKING-DOLLARS. So yeah don’t even be like “oh but I can cure my child!” Unless you’re rich, your baby will be in agony for the rest of their life. They already don’t cover this disease at all because it’s a “negro disease” and 9/10 if you bring this disease up no one, except professionals, people who have it or people who knew someone who had it, will not know what the fuck you’re talking about. I was asked wtf is that, what is it, is it contagious, can you spread it to me, over and over AND OVER AGAIN. I advise to anyone who is reading this to spread awareness and to warn people about this horrid shit. Education them, especially if you have a platform. I’m tired of this, I really am.
A run down of Sickle Cell Disease (and a bit about the trait)
It’s a blood disease that shapes your blood cells into sickle and moon crescent like shapes, hence the name. Sickle shaped cells aren’t good because they’re sticky and get stuck together all over the body, causing painful blood clots. These blood clots consist mostly in the legs, arms, back and sometimes in the ass. I’ve gotten a pain crisis in every body part I’ve just listed since I could remember. Recently I’ve been having a new pain in my ribs, which is rare apparently. Sickle cell disease has a trait which isn’t the full blown disease and we just call it a trait. People with the trait can catch pain crisis' but there’s an advantage because as they get older they start to have less and less pain crisis and as for their health? Well I’m not so sure because my husband’s teachers deceased wife had the trait but caught a pain crisis while giving birth to their son and tragically died. Their son now has the full blown disease because I’m assuming his dad has the trait, so that’s why I’m not really sure if their health becomes normal, I just know they have very little pain crisis. She didn’t have a pain crisis in years until that happened by the way.
Anywho, the way Sickle Cell Disease came about because the body made a mutation in to protect them from malaria in Africa, so that’s the only plus side to this. This is also why it is mostly and commonly found among Afro-Americans and why we are the majority to have it, although anyone can have it. There’s different types, and I have a certain type, but I don’t feel like getting into allat. Also I can’t stress this enough but Sickle Cell Disease is NOT CONTAGIOUS, please don’t ask me or other people that have it if it is now that you know this. Sickle cell is genetic and can ONLY be passed down if you AND your spouse have the sickle cell trait, it will affect 1 out of 5 kids. Same thing goes for if you and/or you spouse has the full blown disease or if you have the trait and they have the disease, you get it, you get it. This is why I highly advise people, for the love of their future child, to PLEASE get checked for if you have the trait and you spouse have the trait or if you just have it in case your spouse has the full blown disease.
Happy Announcement!!
One of the medications I was refusing to take to “improve my sickle cell health” was just recalled the other day. I already hated it when it felt like the pills felt stuck in my throat for days, no matter how much I drunk anything. I hope there’s something wrong with the other medication they put me and others on. So glad I rarely took the medicine fr fr.
